Finding Inspiration: The Birth of Our Fencing Blog
In 2023, as business slowed down for my fencing company, I found myself reflecting on ways to reinvigorate our online presence. During a moment of inspiration, while watching YouTube videos in December, I stumbled upon a profound insight: most websites only reveal about 10 per cent of their full story. This realisation resonated deeply with me, prompting the creation of a blog for our fencing business.
Recognizing the downturn in work, I felt compelled to share more than just our services on our website. I wanted to provide valuable insights, stories, fencing tips, and options to engage with our audience on a deeper level. It pained me to see our hardworking team, with over 40 years of experience, seemingly overlooked. I began to question why our visibility wasn't as strong as it should be, and I realized that I may have been inadvertently contributing to the issue.

Navigating Challenges: Reclaiming Our Online Presence
For years, we relied on platforms like Yell for our website presence, but the costs were becoming increasingly prohibitive. Paying £1400 annually felt justifiable when Yell's directory was in print, but the transition to digital significantly diminished our returns. Even maintaining our website independently, at £40 per month just for hosting, added to the financial strain.
It wasn't until we migrated to a different platform and took control of our online presence that I truly grasped the importance of a well-structured website. Our blog has become a vital tool in showcasing the full story of our business, connecting with our audience, and reclaiming our online visibility. Through sharing our expertise, experiences, and insights, we aim to not only inform but also to build trust and rapport with our audience.

The Power of Authenticity: Sharing Our Story through Service Blogs
In crafting service blogs, I've learned that authenticity reigns supreme. It's not just about showcasing expertise; it's about letting people in, sharing the quirks, the small victories, and the occasional odd encounters. Every little tip, no matter how seemingly insignificant, has the potential to resonate with someone out there.
From the amusing comments we receive on Facebook to the diverse places we've worked, each experience adds depth to our story. There's a unique satisfaction that comes from being recommended for a job by an old customer – it's a testament to the trust and rapport we've built over the years. And it's that trust that we aim to convey through our website.

Building Trust: From Recommendations to Website Reflection
Our website isn't just a digital storefront; it's an extension of ourselves – a reflection of who we are as individuals and as a business. By sharing our experiences, insights, and even the occasional lighthearted anecdote, we're inviting visitors to get to know us beyond the services we offer. We want them to see the person behind the business – someone who's not only skilled at their craft but also approachable, relatable, and genuinely invested in delivering the best possible experience.
So, as we continue to refine our website and our service blogs, we'll keep striving to let our personality shine through. Because at the end of the day, it's not just about being good at what we do – it's about being good people that you can trust to get the job done right.

Make the blog like an old customer
Imagine the power of a trusted client's recommendation – it significantly boosts the likelihood of securing a job. Now, envision your website mirroring that same level of trust and experience, akin to a revered old customer. It's not just about showcasing expertise; it's about exuding warmth and reliability, ensuring potential clients understand they're dealing with a seasoned professional who genuinely cares about their needs.
Let your website embody the essence of the friendly, skilled individual behind the business – someone clients can count on to get the job done right. By infusing your site with personal anecdotes, insights, and a genuine passion for your craft, you're not just selling a service; you're building connections based on trust and mutual understanding. After all, in a world inundated with impersonal interactions, being approachable and relatable sets you apart and fosters lasting client relationships.

From Quirky Anecdotes to Real Opportunities: The Impact of Service Blogging
It's truly exhilarating to witness the impact of our blog posts unfold in real-time. Consider one of the earliest posts I penned back in December, inspired by a quirky Facebook comment about hedgehogs and concrete gravel boards. Little did I anticipate that this seemingly offbeat topic would lead to a tangible outcome: securing a job. Fast forward four months, and here we are, tasked with the creation of a hedgehog hole in one of the concrete gravel boards – a testament to the power of storytelling and the unexpected connections it can forge.
Similarly, our insights on panels in windy areas have been met with remarkable success. By sharing our expertise and experiences, we've not only engaged our audience but also positioned ourselves as trusted advisors in the realm of fencing solutions. It's immensely rewarding to see our blog posts translate into real-world opportunities, reaffirming the value of authentic storytelling and the importance of addressing practical concerns faced by our clients.

Harnessing Success: Moving Forward on Our Blogging Journey
As we continue on this journey of blogging, let's harness the momentum of these successes to inspire even more meaningful connections and opportunities. Each click, each engagement is a testament to the resonance of our message and the trust our audience places in us. Let's keep sharing our knowledge, experiences, and insights, knowing that each post has the potential to make a tangible difference in the lives of our clients and our business.
