How to Use the Fence Panel Calculator

Enter Fence Length:

  1. Find the input field labelled "Fence length:".
  2. Type the length of your fence in the provided box.
  3. Select the unit of measurement (feet, cm, or meters) from the dropdown menu next to the input field.

Select Post Type:

  1. Below the fence length, find the dropdown menu labelled "Post type:".
  2. Choose the type of post you plan to use for your fence:
    • "Slotted" Concrete Post: Provides a 2-inch gap between panels.
    • "3x3" Wooden Post: Provides a 3-inch gap between panels.
    • "4x4" Wooden Post: Provides a 4-inch gap between panels.

Panel Size Information:

  • Panels used in this calculator are standardised at 6 feet (72 inches) wide.

Calculate:

  1. Once you've entered the fence length and selected the post type, click the "Calculate" button.

View Results:

  • The calculator will display the following information below the button:
    • The number of fence panels needed.
    • The number of posts needed.
    • The actual length of the fence in feet, centimetres, and metres.

Example

  • If you have a fence length of 50 feet and you're using "4x4" posts, enter "50" in the length field, select "feet" from the unit dropdown, and choose "4x4" from the post type dropdown. Then, click "Calculate" to see the results.
Please note: This is based on Fence panels that are 6ft wide.
